A Bit About Us

Here's how we started...

Verity Outreach Worship Center also known as the VOW Center is a newly established ministry.  Back in April of 2016, a group of us (12 people) came together on Saturdays and began to pray and study God’s word for direction. God began to impart more word, more wisdom and even more passion concerning His works. We’d tried visiting other ministries, we even considered teaming up with other churches, however we knew that God was calling us to something more.  In May, we finally accepted that God was leading us to start a ministry that mirrored His word, that cared for his people and that worshipped in transparency.  We knew that this would be a faith walk as we had absolutely nothing to start a church or a ministry. All we had was a wealth of knowledge and experience that we’ve learned from serving in other ministries for over 30+ years. More importantly, we had our faith, knowing that if God called us to this present moment, that He would continue to lead and guide us all the way.

So, we began to form our ministry, by selecting John Clark Sr. as the pastor of our new ministry. John had proven himself as a certified leader and teacher and was already pastoring, just without the title. John was ordained as a minister by Rev. Chesta Davis Sr in May of 2016. Alongside his wife, Dorisene Clark, they accepted the call to the position of Pastor.  We held our first service on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Temple Presbyterian Church located in Philadelphia Pa.  The Clark’s were installed as official Pastors of Verity Outreach Worship Center Inc. on Saturday, June 18, 2019 by Apostle Van and Phyliss Moore of the Vision of Missions Tabernacle Church.

Since the inception of the ministry, we have been able to put ministry first by getting out of the four walls of the church building and into the community.  By God’s grace, we have established a great relationship with our neighbors through community outreach. We’ve set up prayer booths, provided pampers and milk to families in need.  We also hosts annual coat and book bag drives as a way to help anyone that is in need. In all things, we spread the message of Jesus Christ as He is our Lord and Savior. We point everyone that we encounter back to God! As he is the official game changer.

God is writing this story... these are a few milestones that we are writing out as God continues to reveal his plan for us.

  • March of 2019- Start of our Noon Day prayer was started and led by Min. Dominick Weatherbe.

  • February of 2020- Start of 7am prayer led by Evang. Paula Mckenly.  (This is big as we went from praying 3 days a week at 12 noon to praying 5 days a week at 7 am and 12 noon. One step closer to being open for prayer 24/7. )

  • March of 2020- Building we used for service closed it's doors. Pastor Mike Brown allowed us to use his building. In the midst of a pandemic, 90% of churches closed- God graced us and protected us to remain open the entire time.

  • August 17, 2022- We walked into our own building at 2017 W. Diamond Street, Philadelphia PA 19121- (Old Jones Tabernacle)
